(Poland's Independence Day)

Thanks to a fund-raising drive organized by the Stefan Korbonski Foundation of Washington, and the generosity of many persons, mainly from the Polish-American Community and friends of the late Colonel in the United States, a proper memorial has been erected on the grave of Col. Ryszard Kuklinski in the Heroes' Alley of Powązki Military Cemetery in Warsaw. It was blessed and dedicated on Poland's Independence Day, November 11, 2005. How fitting - Col. Kuklinski made great contributions to the second regaining of Polish Independence after over 1/2 century of occupation by the Germans and Soviets.

There were ab. 200 people present, and Archbishop Sławoj Leszek Głódź of the Praga (West Warsaw) diocese led the prayers. He was the one who, in his former role as chief chaplain of the Polish Armed Forces, officiated at the Colonel's Funeral Mass in June, 2004.
